Client

United Air Lines is the largest US-based carrier in the world, with approximately $15 billion in annual revenue and approximately 63,000 employees. UAL filed its bankruptcy in the Northern District of Illinois.

Challenge

Two of UAL’s unions filed a motion to appoint a Trustee to replace existing management. The unions and the Company agreed to retain a third party to provide an independent assessment of their business plan in order to resolve the matter. Bridge was engaged to perform this assessment and was given 30 days to complete the assignment.

Solution

Immediately after retention, Bridge assembled an experienced team of senior professionals to evaluate UAL’s business plan within the framework of the firm’s improvement methodology. In addition, Bridge performed an analysis of the airline industry and UAL’s position in the industry.

Results

Bridge delivered a comprehensive report on the feasibility of the business plan within the time allotted. Included in the report, Bridge identified risks associated with achieving the financial objectives of the business plan.
